anyway, this event was extremely enlightening. i, being from out of state, dont really know that much of columbus, least of all the differences in economic standings across the city. i really had no idea that there was such poverty and hardship across the west side. it was a huge eye opener to work with the kids who have such a hard life and have become very tough and ready to protect themselves. at Agora they let the kids play around for an hour or two, which is complete chaos, then they do a very short church service and then have serve the kids a free dinner. i really admire Agora and their mission to help and provide a safe place for these kids to spend their Wednesday and Saturday nights. the workers were all very kind and welcoming but knew how to handle all the kids, especially the ones that were so willing to fight over the smallest of things. overall it was a great night, i was exhausted after because the kids were so demanding, but i had a good time and i want to go back again if the opportunity presents.
